Impulse, Connection, Form.
Lead by Oscar Zito
The three areas this workshop explores are Impulse, Connection and Form. Through a series of exercises devised out of the training methodologies I have been a part of, we explore how the actor can unblock and respond to his/her impulses, how the actor’s may encounter one another in the space, and how we can then tame this state, and shape it to give us a repeatable form that may be used to generate material.
Since training at the Grotowski Institute under Rena Mirecka my work has been rooted in exploring the different paths through which an actor may access their uninhibited impulses. Through other Psycho-physical approach’s to training (most notably work with Bred in the Bone Theatre Company and Matthieu Bellon-Leloup) my research has lead me to examine the connection between actors, and how this leads to the creation of Theatre. From working at Gardzienice: the European Centre for Theatre Practices, I developed an interest in the ensemble and its dependence on connection. In my work I draw on these two principals, from separate schools of work, Impulse and Mutuality
